

New Year's Day (January 1st)
This is a national holiday, and a day of parties and festivals. Check with Cabo San Lucas Tourist Information to see what specific activities are planned. Many people just sleep off the partying from the night before!
Dia de los Reyes Magos (Epiphany) (January 6th)
This is the day that unique gifts are traditionally exchanged. As it represents the day that the Three Kings arrived at the Nativity to acknowledge the baby Jesus. This is also a day when Rosca de los Reyes (King's Loaf) is served. This Mexican traditional pastry is a round, doughnut-like cake, which contains a little plastic doll somewhere inside. Years of tradition say if you are served the slice that contains the doll, you must host a party on Dia de la Candelaria in February.
Dia de la CandelariaCandlemass (February 2nd)
This is a national holiday with dance, food and music. This holiday recognizes the passing of the winter season. Those who were served the plastic doll in their Three Kings Loaf (see January) will host a party on this day, the traditional drink Atole and food Tamales by the host.
Dia de la Constitucion (February 5th)
Constitution Day. This holiday remembers the day Mexico drew up and enacted its new Constitution as a totally separate and free nation. Public agencies and Banks are closed on this day.
Art Festival "Todos Santos" (February 17th-24th)
Large annual art festival featuring a vast array of local artists. Tourists will see Silver Jewelry, Fire Opals, Paintings, as well as traditional food etc...
P.G.A. Senior Grand Slam (2nd Week of February)
This is an annual event featureing some of the most familiar names in the senior circle.
Carnaval (Late Feb/Early March)
This festival is a big party which takes place forty-six days before Easter Sunday, and is marked with parades, dancing, food, fireworks, and local music. This festival is especially big in La Paz; a two hour drive from Casa Gallucci.
San Jose Days (March 17th-21st)
San Jose del Cabo hosts this traditional fair and festival. Take the highway back 4 miles north towards the airport and take a left at the City Centro Exit. The total drive time from Casa Gallucci is about 4 minutes.
Benito Juarez' Birthday (March 21)
This is the birthday of one of Mexico's most famous and revered heroes; also the country's first President - Benito Juarez. The day is marked with a Public Holiday. Parties, dancing, music, Mexican food and good times are practiced throughout the Los Cabos area.
Holy Week
From Ash Wednesday (beginning of Lent) through the week after Easter Sunday is the busiest time at all of Mexico's key attractions. Everywhere you go there will be processions, festivals, parties, fireworks and more! Many Mexicans take personal vacations during this period. If you want to rent Casa Gallucci during the Easter Period it is recommended that you book early.
Spring Equinox (March 21st)
The first day of spring. This is the time of Spring Break activities. The weather is great. Expect to have a great time at the beaches during the day and Clubs at night.
Cuernavaca Flower Fair (April)
Cuernavaca is one of Mexico's most popular Colonial Gems. Cabo San Lucas hosts several events for this truly beautiful festival.
April 30th (Children's Day in Mexico)
This is not a national holiday, but it is traditional to give children small presents on this day.
Dia del Trabajo (Labor Day) (May 1st)
A National Holiday. Businesses and Offices close, nationwide. This is a great weekend to surf in the Cabo San Lucas area.
Cinco de Mayo (May 5th)
A holiday celebrated big time in the all of the world. This holiday has parades, local arts and craft fairs, and tons of partying.
Mother's Day in Mexico (May 10th)
Although this is not a holiday, many local people take a half day off when they can to take their mother out and celebrate this event.

Mexican Independence Celebration of Los Cabos (September 15th-16th)
The Eve of Mexican Independence Day will be celebrated with Fireworks, Folk Dancing and Mariachi Bands. These festivities will be followed the next day with speeches and parades- the entire event will be held in Cabo San Lucas.
Dia de la Independencia (Independence Day) (September 16th)
Indisputably Mexico's most important, and most revered National Holiday is Independence Day - Dia de la Patria. During this time, Fiestas Patrias take place nationwide. From the evening of September 15th, parties begin. At 11pm, the President of the Republic shouts the Cry (El Grito) of "Viva Mexico" from the balcony of the National Palace - an event televised and broadcast on radio to every corner of the nation, as Mexicans cry back with "Viva!" in an emotion-packed traditional annual ritual. This is a great time to be in Cabo if you like celebrations, parties and mayhem!

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) (November 1st and 2nd)
This event encompasses 2 days: All Saint's Day, and All Souls day. The first honors all saints and people who died as children, and the second pays tribute to the souls of those who died in adulthood. If you are in Mexico around this time, expect to see sugar-candy skulls, skeletons and Pan de Muertos (Bread of the Dead) advertised at shops and supermarkets. Relatives of those who died gather at cemeteries throughout Los Cabos, bringing bread, fruit and their decorated sugar skulls, along with candles and the favorite food of those who have passed to celebrate their lives, and remember their loved loves. The mood is far very upbeat; and is intended to be a festive time of life, not a morbid event!

Whale Watching Season in Los Cabos (November to March)
Experts say that 90% of all migrating whales travel south to waters off Cabo San Lucas. The Whale Watching Season spans from late November through March. With Binoculars you can at times see them from our rooftop observatory at Casa Gallucci. The primary breeding down is further towards Cabo San Lucas but many have been seen in the Sea of Cortez… the view from Casa Gallucci. Eight out of the 11 species of Whales migrate during this season within minutes of our home. Ideal Climate, water depth, and abundance of food combine to create an almost perfect place for mothers to raise their calves.
Dia de Guadalupe (December 12)
This is not a public holiday, but probably Mexico's biggest religious event of the year. This day is recognized by Mass and celebrations in honour of Guadalupe, Mexico's Patron Saint.
Posadas de Navidad (Nine days leading up to Christmas Day)
Posadas are parties that take place throughout the nine days before Christmas Day. Posadas re-enact Mary & Joseph's search for an inn. Local children travel from door-to-door in traditional costume, holding candles and singing traditional song.
Christmas in Mexico (Dec 12 - Jan 6)
The Christmas period starts around the 12th and continues right through until early in the New Year on January 6th - Kings Day. Casa Gallucci, as well as rental cars and airline reservations go fast. Parties, celebrations and processions are evident everywhere you go. The resident of Cabo San Lucas love to party and Christmas is a big event here. If you want to spend a Christmas at our home, book early.
